The Winter League is a series of shoots that take place in the southern area, hosted by the various clubs.

The format for winter league is the same as last years. Anyone can enter but only the top 3 scores for each club will be entered. The winter league will be run as a series of opens in which anyone with a BFTA card can shoot, although only those belonging to a CSFTA club will have their score recorded, but with a team element.

The open will be run along the lines of all other opens.  You turn up between 9am and 11am, pay 4 and join the course at lane 1 to shoot 40 targets to BFTA rules with 2 minutes per lane and all of the usual stuff.  If you are from a CSFTA club your score will be recorded along with your grade and at the end of the series prizes will be awarded by grade (1st to 5th) with your top 5 out of 6 scores counting. The top 32 will get a place at the showdown and the top 16 a place at the inter regionals.  The Gary Wells trophy goes to the individual with the highest number of points over all 6 rounds.

The team event only enter one team per club, and it's not limited by numbers so effectively everyone from your club is on the team.  At the end of each open the top 3 scores, including any handicap points, from each club are your team score.  Handicap points are 3 for C, 2 for B and 1 for A grade shooters and these are added to the club score but not the open.  The wining team will be awarded 7 points (assuming 7 clubs participate), 2nd place gets 6 and so on down to 1 point.  The individual shooter with the highest score gets their club a bonus point.  At the end of the 6 rounds the club with the highest score wins and gets a gong.  This allows any club that can muster 3 shooters on any given shoot to enter, they don't even have to be the same 3 but note that anyone that shoots for you must have club membership or have approval from the regional chairman (Mick) prior to shooting.
